The WTU (Wireless Transmission Unit) replaces traditional wired connections between Modbus Master and Slave devices, providing a reliable wireless connection. It is the ideal solution for data transmission across compressed air networks where cabling is difficult or economically unfeasible.
The device is available in three models: WTU‑S for stationary installation, WTU‑P with built‑in battery for portable use, and WTU‑PM for portable master devices such as the S551. Thanks to plug‑and‑play connectivity, standard connectors, and data transmission encryption, the WTU ensures secure and reliable communication between sensors, data loggers, and gateways – even over long distances or between buildings.
The WTU can operate in Master, Slave, or Repeater mode, allowing the wireless configuration to be adapted to any site conditions and infrastructure. The SUTO S4C‑WTU app provides intuitive mobile device setup: viewing system status, configuring wireless and Modbus parameters, and checking signal strength – all from a smartphone. Step‑by‑step guidance reduces installation time and simplifies scaling of the monitoring system.
One WTU Slave can connect to one or more SUTO sensors, while one WTU Master supports up to 16 devices on the master side, ensuring full coverage of measurement points. The WTU operates in the ISM band and features advanced AES 128‑bit encryption technology – a global standard for protecting sensitive information – guaranteeing the security of all transmitted data.
Three connector options are provided for connection to various SUTO iTEC devices: M12, ODU, and open wires. All necessary connectors and cables are included in the delivery.
When ordering, you must specify the required role – WTU Master or WTU Slave – by selecting the item from the order table. We will perform the necessary pre‑configuration before shipment, simplifying on‑site setup.
The WTU effectively replaces traditional wired connections between a Master and a gateway, completely eliminating the need for cables. Adding a WTU Repeater helps to address communication distance issues or excessive background noise on site.

The WTU-S stationary installation version can be installed on the walls, pipes and shafts of the sensors shown in the following picture. The WTU-P portable version and WTU-PM do not require installation.
