  • Normally enclosed design prevents fugitive emissions from the system.
  • Expensive replacement insurance for damaged equipment avoids critical system downtime.
  • Patented diaphragm design provides reliable, repeatable, bubble-tight sealing in VBM and VB; PFA encapsulated spring and special poppet provide identical performance in VBS design.
  • For corrosive or ultra-pure fluid applications.

Construction: Plast-O-Matic VBM vacuum breakers have only one moving part – a patented self-sealing diaphragm, which ensures both simplicity of design and maximum operational reliability. This normally closed design seals in an identical location every time, ensuring a highly reliable and long-lasting seal. The VBS series vacuum interrupters have a corrosion resistant PFA sealed spring acting on a magnetic seal that neither seizes nor leaks. Maximum operating pressure is 100 PSI at 75°F (6.9 bar at 24°C). See pressure/temperature figures overleaf. Spring material (unlubricated) is 303-304 stainless steel.

PLAST-O-MATIC VB/VBM/VBS technical specifications

  • VBM series vacuum interrupters are made of type 1 class 1 PVC (polyvinyl chloride), glass filled polypropylene, Kynar PVDF and Corzan CPVC in 1/2″, 3/4″ and 1″ sizes.
  • VB series VB machined version is available in PTFE in 3/4″ and 1″ sizes.
  • Diaphragms are in EPDM or FKM (comparable to Viton barnd). VBS vacuum interrupters are available in standard PVC (polyvinyl chloride), natural polypropylene, Kynar PVDF and Corzan CPVC in sizes 11/2″, 2″ and 3″.
  • Standard dust caps for PVDF models are natural polypropylene; PVDF is optional. Seals are EPDM or FKM.
  • All models have standard threaded or sleeved connections.

Vacuum breakers will open to allow air to flow through the piping or tank, preventing suction, cavitation or vacuum when properly installed and used within recommended pressure, temperature and chemical compatibility ranges. Material compatibility shall be determined by previous successful use. The minimum operating temperature shall be 40°F.
